Hamamatsu Castle

Hamamatsu Castle is known as the residence of Ieyasu Tokugawa who became the first general of the Edo shogunate, and Ieyasu spent 17 years in Hamamatsu Castle from 29 years old to 45 years old. In the Edo period many castle owners have advanced to executive of the shogunate. Then the castle is called "Castle of Advancement". Currently it was maintained as a Hamamatsu Castle Park and you can see stone walls . From the top of the castle you can see the Mikatagahara Old Battlefield to the north, the Enshu Nada to the south, Lake Hamana to the west, Mt. Fuji to the east.
